Visiting Teaching Staff Statute

Date of entry into force: 20 June 2017.

1. For the purpose of achieving the objectives and expected learning outcomes of a study programme, the university may involve in the conducting of studies a scientist or renowned creative artist or reputable practitioner of the field from outside the university as a visiting member of teaching staff.

2. A visiting member of the teaching staff may be granted the title Visiting Professor or Visiting Lecturer for the duration of regular studies depending on the academic or professional qualifications of the visiting member of teaching staff.

3. A proposal in respect of appointment of a visiting member of teaching staff is made by the Programme Director with the approval of the Dean.

4. A proposal to appoint a visiting member of the teaching staff shall include at least the following information:

4.1 the purpose of inviting a visiting member of teaching staff and the expected results;

4.2 education and/or academic degree of the visiting member of teaching staff and his or her profession, if any;

4.3 assessment of the suitability of the visiting member of teaching staff in achieving the expected results.

5. A visiting member of teaching staff does not fill an academic position; an authorisation agreement is entered with him or her for conducting studies.

6. A visiting member of teaching staff is a member of an academic structural unit. A visiting member of teaching staff has the same rights as the university staff to use the university’s infrastructure for the purposes of conducting studies at the university.

7. Other rights and obligations of a visiting member of teaching staff, including the rights and obligations to use the title of Visiting Professor or Visiting Lecturer shall be laid down in the agreement entered into with the visiting member of teaching staff.
