Internship is coordinated by Internship Coordinators appointed by the department responsible for the course. The department responsible for the course shall notify the Programme Director and Head of Dean\u2019s Office when Internship Coordinators are changed.<\/p>\n<p>2. For each internship course in the School of Business and Governance, the Internship Coordinator creates an internship Moodle course. If there are several Internship Coordinators in the same internship course, the internship Moodle course creation will be organized by the Program Director. Internship Moodle course is managed by the Internship Coordinator(s). Internship Moodle course contains internship documents, information about internship defence procedure and deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>3. Internship takes place according to the internship instruction, which shall be compiled by the Internship Coordinator following the format presented in Appendix A and shall be approved by the Programme Director. The internship instruction shall be available in OIS in place of the extended syllabus and in internship Moodle course.<\/p>\n<p>4. The evaluation form of the supervisor at the host organisation shall be compiled by the Internship Coordinator following the format presented in Appendix B and shall be approved by the Programme Director. The evaluation form of the supervisor at the host organisation shall be available in OIS and in internship Moodle course.<\/p>\n<p>5. In case it is not considered necessary to duplicate the documents specified in clauses 3 and 4 in OIS, the Internship Coordinator adds a link to the internship Moodle course to the internship OIS syllabus.<\/p>\n<p>6. The Programme Director decides upon the necessity of an internship defence within the study programme. The internship Coordinator organises the internship defence and informs the Programme Director and Study Counsellor of the defence times by Friday of the second week of the semester the latest.<\/p>\n<p>7. For assessment of the internship, the student shall submit an application to the Internship Coordinator in the appropriate form in OIS. The student shall also submit on internship Moodle course the evaluation form of the supervisor at the host organisation as an Excel file signed digitally by the supervisor of the internship at the host organisation (see Annex B), internship report or other documents (such as Europass) necessary to prove that an internship has been completed. If the study programme requires internship defence, the student shall defend the internship report to pass the internship.<\/p>\n<p>8. In order to pass the internship in the current semester, the student shall present the documents described in point 6 on Friday of the 14<sup>th<\/sup> study week of the semester at the latest. The Internship Coordinator provides an evaluation to the internship of students graduating in the same semester at the latest on Friday of the 16<sup>th<\/sup> study week of the semester, evaluation of other students by the deadline of the exams at the latest.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">Appendix A<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTERNSHIP INSTRUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The following is an example where starred fields shall be used using exactly the same wording. Organisation and assessment of internship *<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\">The general organisation of internship has been set out in the TalTech Academic Policies.<\/p>\n<p>3.1.\u00a0\u00a0 As a general rule, the student shall find the host organisation by himself \/ herself. If necessary, Internship Coordinators, the Career and Counselling Centre and, in case of an internship abroad, the Mobility Centre shall provide assistance.<\/p>\n<p>3.2.\u00a0\u00a0 By mutual agreement, an internship may be completed in the TalTech departments, organisations, Mektory and administrative and support units. Participation in Mektory projects shall be based on the terms and conditions agreed upon with enterprises in the project.<\/p>\n<p>3.3.\u00a0\u00a0 The internship workload in credit points shall be determined in the study programme.<\/p>\n<p>3.4.\u00a0\u00a0 The internship tasks shall support the achievement of the learning outcomes set for the internship. For additional information, the Internship Coordinator of the speciality shall be contacted.<\/p>\n<p>3.5.\u00a0\u00a0 In case of an internship completed abroad in the framework of an Erasmus programme, the rules agreed with the Internship Coordinator shall be complied with.<\/p>\n<p>3.6.\u00a0\u00a0 For assessment of internship, the student shall submit to the Internship Coordinator an application in the appropriate form, the signed evaluation form of the supervisor at the host organisation, an internship report or other documents (such as Europass) necessary to prove that an internship has been completed. If the study programme requires internship defence, the student shall defend the internship report to pass the internship.<\/p>\n<p>3.7.\u00a0\u00a0 In order to pass the internship in the current semester, the student shall present the documents described in point 6 at the latest on Friday of the 14th week of the semester. The Internship Coordinator provides an evaluation to the internship of students graduating in the same semester at the latest on Friday of the 16th study week of the semester, evaluation of other students by the deadline of the exams at the latest.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><strong>4. Student\u2019s obligations related to internship *<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\"><strong>A student shall:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4.1.\u00a0\u00a0 Submit the internship instruction to the internship supervisor at the host organisation.<\/p>\n<p>4.2.\u00a0\u00a0 Adhere to the deadlines related to the commencement of the internship, fulfilment of the internship tasks, submission and defence of the internship report.<\/p>\n<p>4.3.\u00a0\u00a0 Inform the internship supervisor at the host organisation and Internship Coordinator about problems arising during the internship.<\/p>\n<p>4.4.\u00a0\u00a0 Execute conscientiously and properly the orders of the internship supervisor at the host organisation, as well as other persons authorised to supervise the work and be responsible for the results of his or her activity equally with the permanent staff.<\/p>\n<p>4.5.\u00a0\u00a0 Protect the internship provider\u2019s business and employment secrets as well as a good reputation.<\/p>\n<p>4.6.\u00a0\u00a0 Comply with other responsibilities relevant to the internship\u2019s nature.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 1312px\" border=\"1px\" width=\"859\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><strong>5. Objectives of internship<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\"><strong>Filled by the Internship Coordinator according to study programme specifications on internship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>Example 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>5.1.\u00a0\u00a0 Apply knowledge gained through studies to fulfil specific work assignments that correspond to learning outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>5.2.\u00a0 Obtain work experience and skills for independent work in the field.<\/p>\n<p>5.3.\u00a0\u00a0 Participate in the daily work of the structural unit, develop teamwork skills and solve professional assignments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The internship aims to utilise the knowledge and skills obtained at the university in the real work environment. The internship thereby helps to understand the relationship between public administration theory and its daily utilisation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><strong>6. Speciality- related learning outcomes of the internship<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\"><strong>Filled by the Internship Coordinator according to study programme specifications on internship.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>Example 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>6.1.\u00a0\u00a0 Knows the organisation\u2019s work procedures, internal rules and structure as well as possesses an overview of work safety, safety equipment and new technologies.<\/p>\n<p>6.2.\u00a0\u00a0 Is capable of utilising knowledge gained through studies in real work situations.<\/p>\n<p>6.3.\u00a0\u00a0 Knows how to describe the organisation\u2019s strengths, weaknesses and possible development potential.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>Example 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A student who has completed the internship:<\/p>\n<p>6.1.\u00a0\u00a0 Knows well policy regulations concerning the internship organisation (chief legislation, development programmes and other policy documents) as well as the field\u2019s leadership or policy implementation systems;<\/p>\n<p>6.2.\u00a0\u00a0 Analyses the organisation\u2019s main tasks and their role in the policy development and implementation cycle as well as state administration structure;<\/p>\n<p>6.3.\u00a0\u00a0 Critically evaluates the organisation\u2019s structure, social role, administrative capacities as well as connection to interest groups emphasising the organisation\u2019s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats;<\/p>\n<p>6.4.\u00a0\u00a0 Is capable of isolating public administration specific problems related to the workplace and associate the problems with the broader public administration context. In other words, knows how to associate theoretical knowledge with practical experience as well as explain their disparity.<\/p>\n<p>6.5.\u00a0\u00a0 Is capable of creating a written analytical text that is based on a practical case that creates a relationship between public administration theory and practice.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><strong>7. Internship report<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\"><strong>Filled by the Internship Coordinator.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>Example 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Is a summary of the trainee\u2019s activity and it is recommended when preparing the report:<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 1312px\" border=\"1px\" width=\"859\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\">a)\u00a0 to follow the prescribed structure;<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0 to present the student\u2019s evaluation of the internship aims as well as results;<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0 to make a self-evaluation.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>The report should be 15-20 pages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The internship report contains a summary of the trainee\u2019s activities, an evaluation of the internship aims and results as well as an internship organisation analysis. The report is compiled according to the TT\u00dc School of Business and Governance written works compilation and formatting requirements without a table of contents with an approximate length of 1500-1700 words.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><strong>9. Internship overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 internship organisation\u2019s overview and introduction to its main policy area;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 internship work position (if definable), a short description of the work experience incl. main tasks and responsibilities as well as the knowledge and skills required for their fulfilment;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 1312px\" border=\"1px\" width=\"859\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"500\">&#8211;\u00a0 evaluation of one\u2019s own preparation: theoretical and practical preparation for fulfilling work assignments \u2013 strong and weak aspects;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 evaluation of one\u2019s own task fulfilment (strengths, weaknesses);<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 evaluation of new knowledge and skills obtained through the internship experience;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 activities outside work in other fields (public life, cultural field) which the student considers relevant because of skills and experiences obtained.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Analysis of internship organisation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 institution\u2019s position within Estonia\u2019s public administration system \u2013 the organisation\u2019s main functions and their role in policy development and implementation systems; in case of the non-profit sector or international organisations analysis with the relationship to (Estonia\u2019s) public sector has to be made;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 main policy field\u2019s regulations and administrative systems;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 the institution\u2019s strategic aims, organisation structure, leadership and subordination relationships with other public organisations, relationship with the most important target groups;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 an analysis of a work process, task, policy process or similar related to the organisation\u2019s main functions associated with public administration academic literature.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Analysis of host organisation\u2019s activities from ERS and SDG perspective: <\/strong>strategic goals, main initiatives and activities in the area of ethics, responsibility and sustainability (ERS) and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The student describes the main objectives, initiatives, activities in the area of ERS and which SDGs are followed in its activities (including specific examples).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"133\"><strong>10.
